From what i've heard and read you have a pretty good amp in the line 6...thought about trying one myself...i've got a strat that i play through a Super Champ XD...not a huge heavy amp but it's a tube and if i need loud it goes somewhat loud.

i play an ibanez rg series in which i replaced the pickups. i put an 81 in the bridge slot and an 89 in the neck slot.
i play through a fender frontman 212r.
i use crybaby wah on occasion.
i am going to get a delay pedal here soon to apply to my leads.

Most probably know, but I'here goes anyway...

Guitars:
ESP LTD EC-1000VB - LP style LTD. Mahogany/Maple body, Mahogany/Ebony neck. EMG 81/60 pickups)
BC Rich Deluxe Jr. V - V style Rich. Mahogany body, Maple/Ebony neck. EMG 85/81 pickups)
ESP LTD Alexi-600 - Rhoads style LTD. Alder body. Maple/Ebony neck. EMG 85 pickup)
Ibanez V-Blade - Full V style Ibanez. Mahogany body. Maple/Rosewood neck. EMG H4 (passive) pickup)

Amps:
Mesa Single Rectifier head
Mesa Rectifier 212 cabinet

I also have a Peavey 6505+ head and a Marshall 1960A cabinet but I haven't used them since getting the Mesa rig. The fate of these two is yet undecided.

Zen ... I used to have a Super Champ XD but wasn't using it as much as my Line 6 ... the 6 is good only because of the multiple sounds I can get ( i.e. Mese Boogie Dual Rectifier, 68' Marshall Plexi, Fender '65 Twin Reverb, VOX AC-30) and the effects (Phaser, Chorus, Flange, Echo, Reverb, Delay, etc.)

I want to get a Marshall JVM half-stack but I don't have the $$$ right now

There's that '69 Reverb again...still haven't seen one to try or buy. Line 6 III and II hae been mentioned a few times too...

I'm sure i read something about what all the line 6 does...is modeling what is meant by the fact that it can sound like other amps ?
That seems like it would bea good feature. I'm supposing that other amps/brands have that feature, no?

I dig the hell out of the active sound. The EC and BC Rich came with them. I tried swapping the 81 and 85 around in the BC Rich one day and loved the 85 in the bridge so I put one in the Alexi (it had a Duncan Blackout in it originally). The Ibanez had a DiMarzio D-Activator, but I didn't like it. A friend has a guitar with the HZ and I dug its sound so I threw one in there.

I do dig passives, but most of my axes came with actives and although I'd love to try a Duncan Invader or DiMarzio X2n, I don't want to try them enough to change out all the electronics.

Your Gibson studio and PRS SE come with awesome pickups. Both those sets are high up on the list of great pickups.

I've always been curious about the actives ... I had Schecter Hellraiser a while ago that had passive EMG 81/85s ... it was a little deep for me with what I play but now I miss it

When you say actives, that means you push/pull to switch to single coil correct?

Zen ... a lot of amps now come with a ton of amp settings and tones ... it saves you a lot of money but purists will tell you it's not "real" amp tones

If I had the $$$ I'd buy originals but I'm not rich so I go with works ... Line6 has a Vetta II amp that I'd love to try out ... there's over 50 amp combos you can use and you can select two different amps and fuse them together for unique tone combinations ... but it' a pretty penny at about $1,700

it sounds awesome!

the one thing that could be changed a bit is that it can be very 'bassy'.

sometimes u gta turn the bass knob down a lot but other than that it works fine and you can create many many different sounds from it.

i am currently investing in a 40 watt line 6 spider 3 fully tubed from a mate for band practises. (getting it cheaper and such although it is still in pristine condition)

SD, if i had the money i'd...yeah, i'm not rich either, well not in monetary terms anyway. I'm happy with what i have but i've always been one that wants more or something different. My little Fender amp does a good job for now but i sure like the looks/write up on that Line 6 you posted the link to.

So many amps, so many guitars, so little time !

Cheers,

I play a G&L Legacy and I'm not sure what my amp is, actually. I have a little Pignose amp too, but I don't usually use it.

Since I'm just a beginner I really don't know anything about the differences between kinds of guitars/equipment though. D: Well, I guess I'm learning lol
