Hello DaiLinn, someone may have mentioned before but you can go on youtube and see just about any amp ever made being used or demoed by all kinds of ppl including beginners like us. Also, a lot of guitar and amp makers now have video of their gear being put through its paces. Hope this helps you learn about amps. Does your one amp have any labels or stickers, tags etc with any kind of name on it? You may have something very valuable and not even know it. Though i do remember what you said about the personal value of the guitar...presuming same goes for the rest of the gear that came with it.
Cheers,
GuitarZen

I play a G&L Legacy and I'm not sure what my amp is, actually. I have a little Pignose amp too, but I don't usually use it.
Since I'm just a beginner I really don't know anything about the differences between kinds of guitars/equipment though. D: Well, I guess I'm learning lol

SD, if i had the money i'd...yeah, i'm not rich either, well not in monetary terms anyway. I'm happy with what i have but i've always been one that wants more or something different. My little Fender amp does a good job for now but i sure like the looks/write up on that Line 6 you posted the link to.
So many amps, so many guitars, so little time !
Cheers,

Shaidtan ... I take it you're an EMG man?I dig the hell out of the active sound. The EC and BC Rich came with them. I tried swapping the 81 and 85 around in the BC Rich one day and loved the 85 in the bridge so I put one in the Alexi (it had a Duncan Blackout in it originally). The Ibanez had a DiMarzio D-Activator, but I didn't like it. A friend has a guitar with the HZ and I dug its sound so I threw one in there.
I do dig passives, but most of my axes came with actives and although I'd love to try a Duncan Invader or DiMarzio X2n, I don't want to try them enough to change out all the electronics.
Your Gibson studio and PRS SE come with awesome pickups. Both those sets are high up on the list of great pickups.I've always been curious about the actives ... I had Schecter Hellraiser a while ago that had passive EMG 81/85s ... it was a little deep for me with what I play but now I miss it
When you say actives, that means you push/pull to switch to single coil correct?
That's a coil tap. Some actives can do it and most passives can. It's all in the wiring.
If you had an 81/85 set in your Schecter you had actives.

I like these questions................well I play a Fender Lonestar on a Crate amp. Looking to upgrade my amp, but I must improve my playin before I have that conversation with the Mrs.................LOL
Bob Dylan
Cavett-..well when you mention the National Anthem and talk about playin it in any unorthodox way, you immediately get hate mail....
Hendrix- I didnt think it was unorthodox, I thought it was beautifull.....but there you go
I've been imitated so well I've heard people copy my mistakes.

Mine too Sosh...only i keep myself in check from buying every 'pretty face' that comes along...saving up for bigger ticket items. I've been looking
at classicals and geez, all of a sudden i've gone from wanting a great sounding beater to wanting a Taylor or other 'pluggable innable' classical.
Check out the outlay on those dang Taylor classicals sometime...cheap man ! Well, relatively speaking...i mean i really want one just like George
Harrison's for playing 'Here Comes The Sun' but that's out of my price range...quite a ways.

...to be honest, it's all really about "...how you play..." being more important than what you "...play it on/through!"

OTM that's true but many (including myself) find inspiration in how our equipment sounds.

Here's a pic of the amp and the EC. The rest of the guitars are in a thread somewhere.
Sorry for the blurriness. The picture was taken with a phone.
Ninja Edit: Anyone else have pictures of their stuff?

I've got a Epi Special II and a Line 6 Spider III 30W amp. It's not much by any means but it gets the job done.
After having the amp for a while, I've been able to get various sounds including those similar to Joe Satriani, SRV, and Eric Clapton.
I also have a Ovation CSE24, and a Schecter Stiletto Extreme. That's a bass, but it plays like a six-string electric.

i use a fender deville 4x10 60 watts tube. clean channel is unparralled gretsch 5120 electromatic and an sg generic guitars.
also have two kustoms one is the dfx 65 the other is a kga 10. bt they are secondary to the fender cause man you just can not beat the robust flavor that it produces although the dfx 65 has sme cool effects it is solid state and lack the richness and character that tubes give. side note the kga 10 practice amp has stereo out put for the headphones something non of my others will do so it is nice for practice in a late night situation when others may be sleeping. the dfx has headphones out put but it only comes in one ear bud.
if my calculations are correct SLINKY + ESCULATOR = EVERLASTING FUN
