Hand fashioned Pot cover, not exactly the shape I want, but it was the size of the wood I had. So it will do.

I removed one pound, and 4 oz. of extra material, and if I think about it, I may chip away a little more.
Test fitting, and pre drilled holes for the hard tail bridge.
String Ferrel's set flush. Had a little trouble with the pilot holes, I used a tiny bit for the first drill, and it wandered off target from the top side, and the holes did not line up on the back side. I should have used a larger diameter drill bit. Next time, it will be done right.

Lookin good Paul...
Ya might loose abit more weight by using a 1/4" round-over bit to releave the edges?
And ya will loose more when ya rout out for the neck, I would think...
Looks good..

Say Morty, i was looking at the pic of the hollowed out body....does this become a semi-hollow body and will there be some sound holes on the top?

Ok, it's break time, during my technical hang up with the neck I received, (don't buy guitar parts from China,,,EVER) I decided to build two box guitars for my nephew and niece. They visited me recently, and had big smiles when I let them play with one of my cigar box guitars, so I will surprise them with these. The frets are spaced to the Doe- Ray- Me- scale. The acoustics is poor, adding electrics would make them sing. But I am almost sure these will just be toys for these kids. One is a lefty, the other is for regular people.
Now back to the V job.

Actually Hoss, size 10 x 24 thread brass bolts on an Oak saddle. 1/4 " will work too. I took the idea from someone else, so it wasnt me that holds the patten on a bolt for a bridge. LOL When building box guitars at home, there are no rules for materials, thats the fun part.
