It is a very sad day in the world of guitar ....But lets not be sad in his death but rejoice in the things that he left for us as Players to follow and learn from.....
Very well stated Hoss.
My sentiments exactly.

Heres some info on Les...........
...although I never owned nor played a Les Paul guitar(*), I was enthralled with his music, especially his instrumental "Meet Mr. Callaghan." I've got just about all of his LP's and CD's.
...the "Wizard of Waukesha" has left the stage for a little one-on-one gigging with the Almightly.
...RIP.
* = although I did own a `65 SG Les Paul Custon (does that count?)

No...He hated the SG. (I think...)
Without Les Paul, the guitar would never have been what it is today...
Les Paul lived to 94...that's a great run and all that music he made....i don't play an LP but i wouldn't mind lucking into an early Gold Top...saw Robben Ford work magic with one recently in Roseburg, OR at the summer concert series. Awesome guitar. Means even more now.

Although I didnt really grow up with les paul,
neither do i really like the guitars,
i was shocked to see the headline "les paul dead" on morning news.
He will be one of the many legends that lived on our earth.
RIP.

he was still gigging the week before he died.
RIP man.
still love my les paul =P
Old Tele Man, yes that SG counts! Every time a Les Paul was sold Les Paul and Mary Ford got a dollar, after they got a divorce Les wanted his name on a different style guitar so that Mary would'nt get her 50 cents! So he had his name put on that SG. My boss Skip Maggoria, "Skip's Music Inc", was interviewed Monday, he was showing the press his 1951 Les Paul "Prototype". It's a gold top, no binding on the neck, and the bridge pick-up is different from the final released design. This thing is in almost mint condition.....god knows how much it's worth...and I played it!!! Skip has a '65 Les Paul SG Custom, it's white. One of these days he's going to have his museum. I had a wine red Les Paul Custom in the '70's......HEAVY!

RIP Les Paul, I'm afraid your influence will not be fully recognised, as you did so much, but so few know your name...
The world has lost a legend...
True, very true
R.I.P. Les Paul 1905 - 2009*
*EDITED: thanks Old Tele
Les Paul was born in 1905, so that should be: R.I.P. Les Paul, 1905-2009.
...hopefully (assuming Gibson doesn't screw things up and quit making them) the Les Paul GUITAR will be around much longer.

Screw up would be an understatment..............Lighter would be good tho .............Just a thought...
I realize I don't post much, but I can't pass this one up. When I was real young we would go to the Arizona State Fair and one year I was treated to the magic of seeing Les Paul and Mary Ford. His gadgetry was present in both of their guitars. Awesome!

You lucky .......ahh ok enough said
Les Paul may have died, but his guitar will live on forever
...Elvis may be "...in the building..." but Les Paul is definitely "...in the guitar..."

The only possible way a person could not like a Les Paul guitar is A) they were playing a cheap Epiphone knock off or B) they've never played a Gibson Les Paul before.
