I have to disagree with your statement, I have played several LP's, they felt unbalanced &uncomfortable; to me. although the neck had super action,it felt as if I had no real control. I guess thats why they make so many different kinds of guitars, cause we're all different.

Although I didnt really grow up with les paul,
neither do i really like the guitars,
i was shocked to see the headline "les paul dead" on morning news.
He will be one of the many legends that lived on our earth.
RIP.
TMR3The only possible way a person could not like a Les Paul guitar is A) they were playing a cheap Epiphone knock off or B) they've never played a Gibson Les Paul before.
Find me a left handed LP and ill try it!

I would have to agree ,although an LP is a great sounding guitar and i own one it is not my ax of choice . If everybody wanted to play an LP or even liked one there would only be an LP so hince the different guitars so you cant judge a person by what he or she doesnt like you should respect there opion. I dont like a Strat (no offence to anyone who does) but i would like to add one to my collection so does that make me wrong ? No. I means i have a choice. Imagine if you lived in a place where if you wanted to play guitar or bass or any instrument for that matter but you only had a choice of say a jackson but it just didnt ferel right to you so you give up on your dream of playing . So i dont think telling somebody that they are wrong for not liking an LP is wrong. As far as an epiLP they are great sounding guitars and lighter guitars and in my opion play btter than a Gibson LP because its easier to handle being lighter. ok im rambling (this is not aimed at you Buddy) im just saying . and i probly should have done like i ussually do and kept my fingers tied but i couldnt let it go cause theres several reasons lots of people dont like some guitars.

Buddy and Hoss,
I agree, allthough lp's sound and play great, they are heavy, and uncomfortable in my opinion.
One night (years ago) we were playing a gig at a local club, somehow my guitars were not loaded onto the truck. Luckely the other guitar player had his back up LP, and let me use it. It played great, but after 3 hrs it got real heavy.

Les P. was such a genius and inovator; When we pick up our ax we all should think of him and perhaps he will STILL guide us and help us down that ever changing rock-n-roll highway as he did in life. My first real electric was and is a "68" Goldtop.
Thanks L.P.

Les could play any guitar. His real legacy is his multi tracking genius.

Along with multi-tracking, Les was instrumental (no pun intended ) in Amplifier design as well.
On another note, Leo Fender never played an instrument in his life....
