I remember posting a few times on and on about this, how to make a song.
i found a couple of topics that may help you.

I might not be no expert but those tips helped me along the way.
If only i always had the time to sit and write, i wouldve already written 2 albums by now.
I guess it comes along as it goes.
Just watch out for it!

How to write amazing songs: Well if I actually knew how to do that I'd prolly be famous right now, but I'm not. Everybody I've ever known who had any talent for writing had as many different ways to do it as there are stars in the sky. Don't force it, let the inspiration come out on its own. Spend half of your practice time goofing off and experimenting. Get a partner for bouncing ideas around with. These of course are just suggestions that can maybe get the creative juices flowing. I don't think hit songwriting has a mechanical formula, rather it comes from within.

very true.

i always find that when it happens, it happens, i don't sit down and think 'i'm going to write a song' because half the time it just won't come to me. my favourite compositions that i've made are all spontanious, like a burst of creativity. i'll randomly come up with a main riff and then other riffs to fit around it come out but then i work from there on all those riffs as well as creating more that might be able to contribute to the piece.

not that the piece is any good but it's just how i tend to write.

you just gotta find something to inspire you and then mess around with your guitar for a few.... usually something comes to me when i do that.

also gota agree with the general consensus, my best riffs/ chord progressions/ songs in general have come while just messing around, sometimes not even being serious.

random Information: Sweet Child 'o Mine was originally written as a joke. so dont rule out anything musical that come from your fingers and your git.

and as far as lyrics, just write whatever your thinkin, and you have to write about something important to you or the song will probably sound corny to you. just a thought.

Some people say that inspiration is for amatures...now musically I agree however as far as lyrics go thats completely different.

I say start with a melody whether it be vocal or instrumental, and then play with it and figure out what chords and scales fit into and around your melody...then from there you have at least a nice start..then once you have that figured out take some scale fargments or chordtones and twist em into a killer riff then your half way to a decent song...add some harmonies maybe a third or somthing cooler like a minor 6th or maybe even a 7th  modulate to a related minor or major key for your bridge and voila

If it was only that easy..........We would all be famous over night.

Insperation is is just that...... Anyone can be inspired, pro, amature, or otherwise.

Sometimes you may have a bunch of nonsense lyrics running around in your head, and sometimes a musical progression.
I have written songs from both sides of this fence...  I always write down whatever is banging around in my head, then try to make sense of it later.
Then work at putting lyrics to music, or music to lryics, and work from there.
You may have alot of written stuff laying around, but some day you may be inspired by something that reminds you of something that you have written. Go back to your writings and see if the insperation is something that works for you on what you had written down..

Whenever the muse strikes, The thing that Always impresses me is  the way it all falls together. no matter what genre, it comes together . I may get an idea for the theme, or what the piece is trying to do or say. It falls into place for me.I don't write in any conventional form. I just work on the song till I get a feel for where it's going...

Seems to me it happens two ways:
1) you're noodling around on the guitar and some riff pops up, you build on that until it's a song, then you write some lyrics for it.
2) some clever line pops into your head, "take this job and shove it" f'rinstance, and you build on that, then put it to music.

In the second case the brilliant line usually comes to you at some inconvenient time like driving down the road so call yourself and leave a message with it so you don't forget it.  In the first case if you don't write music, then come up with some lyrics that will help you remember it--Paul McCartney famously did this with Yesterday, it's orignal lyrics so he wouldn't forget the melody were something like, "ham and eggs, gonna get myself some ham and eggs."

You'll know you're really in the groove when it writes itself and you're just along for the ride.

hey erbody,
Here are a few of my songs, please let me know what you think smile  Thanks

"Sweet Baby"

I wanna wake up in your t-shirt
Smile at you and kiss you when you go to work
Bring you Belgian waffles and juice in bed
And when you get a headache I will rub your head

Well let me count the ways, that I love you baby
I'm fully aware that sounds cleshay,
But it's true dear, I love you Dear,
And there's no stoppin' this, young heart from feelin' bliss,
When I'm wrapped up in your arms,
I know there is no harm that can be done to me or my soul...yeah, me or my soul...

I want you to wear my weddin' ring,
Hear me in the shower when I am singin'
Hold my hand when I am nervous
And rub my feet when I deserve it...

Well, let me count the ways, that I love you baby
I'm fully aware that sounds cleshay,
but it's true Dear, I love you Dear,
And there's no stoppin' this young heart from feelin' bliss,
When I'm wrapped up in your arms,
I know there is no harm that can be done to me or my soul...

And when the sun is hiding, up in the clouds
I will be your sunshine, baby
And when the sky has no rainbow
I will be your color, dear

....................................................................................
"Poorer Than S#!*"

I'm genuinely happy when you arm's around my shoulder
The weather's gettin' chillier but we are gettin' warm
'Cause we're snuggled up in a blanket, oh-oh in our Chevy Van

A'int got no heat, a'int got no light
A'int got a single belonging in our sights
'Cause we're livin' by a river, oh-oh in our Chevy Van...
but honestly....

Who cares that I'm wearin' week old underpants,
And Who cares that all our food's covered with ants,
And who cares that yesterday we had to eat a...squirrell...

Who cares as long as you've got me and I've got you
We're stuck together like glue...

....................................................................................

"Sparkle"

You're my beautiful sunshine
The light in my eyes
The spark that sets my soul on fire...

The touch of your hand on mine
Ooh, it gets me every time that you smile
My heart goes wild and crazy for you...

Hope to hear from you soon!  Thanks smile

Very good buttercup. Especially the 1st one, it placed images in my mind while I was reading it. Almost like I was watching a movie.

listen. you cant just write  a song about nothing and expect it to have felling. lyrics take time like everything else in life. its something that comes from what you've experienced and something that has to really touch your soul. Its poetry and it must be treated like a  delicacy. what i am basically trying to say is;  take your time while writing lyrics because a song should be like sharing your life to someone and trying to show them experiences through your own musical terms.

p.s i just felt the need to say that to anyone who asks what lyrics they should write
