Anybody have some cool, bluesy E minor pent licks ?  The tune I'm working on is a SRV type of blues tune in E maj.  What I need is some cool E minor pent licks to solo over it. I seem to be stuck and all my stuff is starting to sound the same just different tempos and slightly different embellishments.  I need to try something different. I seem to be loosing my ability to improvise. (like I ever had it)

Ive tried to google "cool E minor pentatonic licks" looked all over youtube etc.  I can't seem to find what I am looking for. A video, tab or anything. You would think an E minor Pent lick would be an easy find. I did find a few NOT of the music genre I am looking for.   I basically have everything figured out through lots of finger time. I just about have the whole finger board covered just need a couple really good licks to "bridge" a few things.

The closest type of music I can think that this is similar to is "Texas Flood"

(My fingers are slow motion compared to this though.   Duh... ya think !!) )

Hey Petey, good to know i'm not the only one that doesn't have the fastest fingers...i'm sure you know all the tricks to get multiple notes from just one (or no) strikes of the plectrum, but here's a link that may help if you haven't seen it already:

Granted, some of these are going to be hard to follow but there's some tech in there that will give you the speed you crave plus you'll be able to isolate licks....where they don't mention the key, just transpose the fingerings to Em pent and you should be able to come up with hours and hours of fun. Hope this helps Petey !

Cheers,

Actually all my stuff is pretty slow. Not so worried about speed atm. Just listen to BB king !!. slow and full of harmony. He has killer "phrasing".

Have you ever gotten emotional while playing ? This is new area for me. I know It sounds corny as all get out, but wow !! maybe that's why it's called "The blues"..   hehe

Was just looking for a few really good "chops" to bridge a few things.  Yes I know it would hard to throw one out without knowing exactly what I'm playing and how to lead into or lead out of said "chop". But I can change my playing around to suite. I am still amazed by what one can do with 5 notes. I am totally memorized.

Yep, Ive been watching a lot of BB lately... The guy is amazing. Where everybody else is throwing out a zillion notes per a measure of time, this guy says way more with way less.  He can say heeps with just a few "delicately" placed notes !!
