Buttercup, sometimes your writing is a very personal thing, sometime golden phrases flow forth to be shared, and most of the time they sit in a notebook for 20 years. It's all part of the dream for me, to stand on a stage, sing and play songs I wrote. The fun comes in the doing, carrying the dream of being an entertainer.Ya never know when, what, how someone will be listening.Sit back and enjoy it, It's a heck of a ride..I know ,it's been fun  for almost 50 years for me, Never made it big , but still I got to play and thats the important part. ya get to do something ya love........

don't b flat, don't b sharp= just B natural!!!!

yep so sick of working two jobs that i better be famous soon or i'm going to die
i don't need to be rich or none of that mess i just don't want to have to clock it.
id rather my time clock be when my strings where all tuned and my amp turns on
time to go to work.
ive sang songs that got played on the radio and the only reason im not famous yet
is cause i didn't write what i was singing or believe in the message it conveyed next
time i'll get it

at least my mom thinks i play good

First off, let me say that as one who is visually impaired, I sometimes miss a post like I did this one for almost a year. I hope Buttercup (or someone) is still interested smile

For me writing music has been therapeutic. I grew up in a crazy household and found music to be a nondestructive way to begin to come to terms with what was going on in the home and in my mind. After growing beyond that situation I continue to find new ways of making sense of a variety of things in life and the world for myself and for others through lyrics and music.

As for going pro, I decided a long time ago that I need to write what I write, and if someone wants to back a truckload of money up to my front door for the privilege of using it, I'll take it. But I won't use the financial success typically associated with songwriting as a profession for motivation. So, I haven't heard that truck backing up to my door, but I was once asked by a local musician friend for permission to cover one of my songs. That was the most memorable response I've received to one of my songs since I started writing in '74.

yeah always still interested. id take a truck load of money backed up to my door
the way money is in california the gov keeps giving it away to everybody but me
and by the time i get it im going to need a truck load to afford anything.

ive also found since i had a great child hood and no real problems in my adult
life till now my pain and suffering have not usually been enough to inspire me with
real motivation just wanting to play and write are about it

at least my mom thinks i play good

And I thank you. It is good to be appreciated, and better to be aware of that appreciation.

You guys should check out the guy with no arms who plays guitar. I watched a couple videos of him and he plays better with his feet then I do with my hands.

I was intoroduced to at least one of those videos a while back, maybe a year ago. He's an impressive player. I'd think twice before betting against him in any sort of challenge.

Hello Everybody... This is Thiery14bar. Music is a very important thing or me. It is more than just words written down on a piece of paper. It's a story. I'm really the only musical one in my family. I've taught myself everything. When something in my life is stressfull, I make it a song. I wrote a song called " Everything's Gonna Be Alright." Maybe some of you have heard it since it's in the songwriting forum. That song is about Haiti. I also wrote a song called "Ghost To You."  It wasn't about me, but it was about a guy that does everything for this girl and she doesn't show a bit of interest. That song is also in the songwriting forum. As you can see, I write about things that are common things, just like many songs we here today. If music wasn't around then I wouldn't be myself. Music is who I am. Now if somebody was every interested with me and wanted me to put some demo's down, then of course I would go, but right now I don't think that is going to happen just because there are so many other great musicians out there in the right places and I live in KY. Keep music alive.

-Chris

Aren't the Everly Brothers from Kentucky? Betting there are many more successful musicians from there too.
