Welcome to chordbook JadeFender, well it's hard to say from here how you're doing the hammer ons and pull offs, but let me ask you what sort of guitar you're playing and we can go from there.

well all i know is that it's a Johnson. not real sure if that'll help ya out but. iu'll try to look for it online and get the name. if you have ever played a guitar hero game it's a fatboy or focus off that game. but it's a game and not real.

Edit: I hope the chatroom was of some help.
If you have any questions, please dont hesitate to ask.  Someone will get back to you....    (Jim-69 Jag)

jade whats up buddy. i was having a similar problem it was so easy to make all those cooler
sounds like pitch harmonics and hammer on and pull offs on my electric when i cranked it
up and had distortion and all those great things.

but 9 out of 10 times im playing my acoustic or classical and its much more challenging
what i found out was i needed more finger strength so i searched youtube.
well i searched for finger stretches to loosen my hands but stumbled upon
a video called the finger gym by this guy named justin. and he really clearly explains
and demonstrates how to produce the tones by hammering and pulling off
and how to use hat to strengthen your fingers
i think his actual sight is like justinguitar.com

good luck

at least my mom thinks i play good
