On a lot of guitar teaching websites, they no longer include TABS for their songs. They claim that they had to take them down due to copyright infringements. When did this start happening? I've also read that some guitar learning websites were even shut down completely! this, is my opinion is horrible! how is one supposed to learn guitar without playing songs? that's what it's all about!

does anyone know what law(s) or clause(s) forced this upon the websites? and when it started being enforced?

Like most things in life people are greedy and record companys are pinching pennies and trying to split chicken feathers and not giving the bands any more money. I know ultimate-guitar.com still works. And you will notice all tabs are posted by individuals and they all say at the top that this is not their work and is just their opinion on how the real song may actually be played. And its not a crime to guess how a song is played as long as you don't charge for it. And you notice on youtube a lot of videos say that its not the posters music and or images and those belong to some movie studio or record company. Its all jist greed

I've noticed lately that a lot of sites have taken tabs down. I don't get too bent out of shape since most of them are wrong anyway. It amuses me though that even when the music has been published everyone still gets it wrong.

Along with what civicstar98 said, most studios publish music for popular music in order to score another revenue stream so you can usually find it at your local music shop.
