I really liked a live show I saw by Last Train Home. They did a song called Marlene written by Kevin Johnson. I wrote to Kevin and asked him for the chords and he sent them to me. My question is, what do the chords in parentheses () mean. What does F(D) and C(D) mean?

Chorus:
                       Em7                          A7sus
So when you're daydreaming down the road somewhere
F(D)                            C(D)
Find a good time and remember me there
Em7                C   D    G C D   Em7 C D
Give a little charity, Marlene

Thanks in advance for all your help. If you want to see a video of LTH doing this song, here's a link.

Oh, and what is the fingering for the A7sus chord?

A7sus can be fingered a couple of ways:

X, 0, 2, 0, 3, 0 = degrees: R,5,7,4,5

X, 0, 2, 2, 3, 3 = degrees: R,5,R,4,7

...here, the "sus" implies the 3rd-degree is to be replaced by the 4th-degree note.

Thanks, OTM, but I had that part. I am looking for what the C(D) and the F(D) mean?

Thanks,

John

...although it's NOT anything I've learned, might be either: (a) the BASS note for chord, same as "slash" chord C/D; or, (b) the TREBLE note to be pedalled from chord to chord, in which case C(D) = Cadd2 or Cadd9 and F(D) = F6...ie: same "D" note being played as highest/last note played in both chords?!?!?

Thanks again, OTM. Can you give a listen to the link above and give me your best guess?

Thanks,

John

Cool...I'm in the process of getting a new home unit, too.

Thanks again for all your help here.
