Hey i'm pretty new to guitar and i'm having a bit of trouble with tuning. It seems i'm a tad tone-deaf.
Is it common to struggle with tuning early on or am i just lacking the ear for it?
Thanks to all who reply.

...sometimes, using a TUNER so you can both SEE and HEAR when the strings are/aren't in tune can help.
...but, use a decent tuner as cheap ones often "trigger" badly and can be tempermental to use.

Tuning by ear can be VERY difficult when you first start but I think if you just keep trying it'll just hit you and you'll just be like, "Yes! That's it!"
I've got a KORG GA-30 tuner and for $15 I think it's the only tuner you will ever need. It runs on two AAA batteries, I've had it for almost 3 years and I've only replaced the battery about two months ago.

Welcome to the board wreckinghead and Sharon. When I was just getting serious and practiced with a few ppl I found out my guitar wasn't even close to being in 'standard' tune. I was always content with tuning by ear and din't feel a tuner would be much better. Turns out it really is. Before I picked up a KORG at my local, I was using the tuner here at chordboard. Works great !
