Are there good tools available on-line or otherwise to assist in sounding out songs...i.e. when sheet music is not available or is too expensive.  Or if there is no magic bullet tool any advice to follow when trying to figure out how to play a song by ear?

I find that listening to the song helps.  If you can down load the song, you can play certain parts over an over again to help your ear hear the chords and how they are played.  Rember that music is not a one way street.  many artisits play the same song but a little different every time.  Well for the guitar atleast.  Again if you can down the song, you can play certain parts over and over again.  I hope that this will help you.  Good luck and God Bless.  cool

Hi all, try listening to the bass/rhythm sound and playing one note at a time on your guitar. Then change the single note to a chord and mess around with it (minor, 7 etc) until it sounds right.
