Ok so I'm working on getting my chops up instead of just speed picking up and down scales. Useing an old blues tune "Stormy Monday" seems like a great learning tool. Thing is its confuseing the heck outa me.
Its mainly built around G7, C9, and D9 with some G# and %B stuff that gets me thinking If Tbone was either a genious or stoned outa his gord.
Anyway...
Since the root of the main key has the 7th droped a half tone should i be thinking Cmajor for most all the song instead of Gmajor, and just stay in C (accenting the 4th) for the changes. and Dminor for the bridge?
There are lots of things I CAN do I know, but I'm trying to learn whats the standerd universal method for choseing a scale when your playing over 7th and 9th chords.
In this progresion I found that the pentatonic "form" at 5th and 10th position seems to work for the entire song but I cant say why.
This is probaly covered in the 101 thread and I'm still working on printing that small book out and understand it. just hopeing to get some licks prepared for an upcomeing practice.
Thanks
Alz

I noticed your post and though I don't know the answer, I'm hoping someone will give you one. I'm a beginner but not totally new to what you are saying. Welcome to the board at any rate and I'll be watching this post Tuneweaver. Good luck !
