hi people of the chord_board!

i saw this chord Am/D  - in the song "let's stay together" by al green.

i tried finding it on the old inter-thingy but had no luck, and i'm kinda new to the guitar chords.

is it played:   X,5,7,5,5,5    ?

'appreciate the help - thanks

...that's the "Nashville 'Slash' Chord" notation for A-minor chord with D-note in bass (D is IV-degree of A scale/chord).

...where on neck are you trying to play this chord? At nut, middle of fretboard, around 12th fret?

It depends on where you are trying to play the chord

hi guys - thanks for replying.

i don't know where on the neck to play the chord, since well....i don't know the chord at all!

- in the song, it is following an F.... like so:

Verse 1:

    F            Am/D
I, I'm so in love with you....

and then is followed by Bb shortly after

- I have only started guitar about a year, and i have not really encountered slash chords too much...

thanks a lot again!

...sounds like it's being played at the nut, so look-up F6 chord (at nut)

...I'm thinking it's fingered like this:

X, X, 0, 2, 1, 0  ...with the notes being:  X, X, D, A, C, E...or Am with D as bass note.

thanks a lot for that - sometimes the easy thing is the hardest thing to see

- of course, just don't play the lowest A.

I was only looking at how to add a lower D note, not considering dropping any notes out - i psyched myself out!

-  the chord i guessed,  X,5,7,5,5,5  is also D,A,C,E,A  - so at least i hit the right idea.

thanks again - all the best
