Hi - I have only just found this site - its a really good resource for guitarists. I've been playing a while now but feel 'stale' playing the same old same old .... I play acoustic and fingerpick and I would like to develop this, maybe a bit of Paul Simon style of playing, that sort of thing.  Any suggestions or sites to visit for interesting chord progressions or fingerpicking tips would be really appreciated.
Cheers, Mel

Dear Mel,
I can really relate to what you're saying as far as feeling stuck with playing the guitar.  I was too for many years ... until the right teacher came along. Maybe this will happen to you too.  We've seen a few guitar players who thought they were "stuck" get themselves unstuck. It's a matter of getting some fresh input. You may have to try four or five teachers to find one who has something to say that you feel applies to you. If you are trying to teach yourself it's easy to get trapped in the same-old-same-old - but if you have an open mind you might find out that there's a lot of music out there that you could learn something from if you don't limit yourself by saying "I don't play that kind of music... " - if you go ahead and say "I know I have something to learn and I'll try doing somebody else's way for a couple of months to see if it works - what have I got to lose?"

In the meantime, you can check out the "resources" page of our website. It's at
