Dsus means the triad notes are D (root), G (sus4) and A (5th)...simply "raise" the 3rd (F#) of the triad up a halfstep...the "shape" would be:

Dsus4

E|--3- G (sus4)
B|--3- D (root)
G|-2-- A (5th)
Do---- D (root)
A|---- x
E|---- x

...unless otherwise annotated, "sus" by itself refers to the 3rd note of the scale being raised ("suspended" upward) to the 4th note, but it's usually written as "sus4"...but not always...as you've discovered.

...alternatively, another "sus" note could be "sus2," which is where the 3rd note has been dropped ("suspended" downward) to the 2nd note.

...does this help?

...and the DEVIL said: "...yes, but it's a DRY heat!"

Although you are supposed to assume "sus4" when only "sus" is written. Suspended 4th chords are called suspended because they sound unresolved. The 4th wants to fall to the 3rd. Suspended 2nd chords are different in that both the fifth and the second want to fall to the root note, which creates a weaker(and kind of strange) resolution to the tonic triad.
