Hi all my name is Sean- I've been visiting this site for the past couple months
but haven't really posted anything.

I see everyone is friendly and gives out advice like candy
and I figured it was time I tried to get some for myself smile

I've only been playing a couple months and learned the basic caged chords,
and I just finished learning my first song (blackbird by the beatles).

I've messed around learning video game melodys and stuff but only know that one
song. Was hoping if I could get some suggestions on what song to learn next-

I've seen some people say blackbird is fairly difficult but I managed to learn it
in about 2 weeks as my first song and my family is real proud of me.
Was hopin to find a song that utilized the same techniques as blackbird maybe
so I could learn it fast? big_smile

Thanks in advance-

Welcome to the post Caballero, I don't know you but I'm real proud of you too. I took a look at Blackbird and went for the simpler stuff for now. I've worked on 'Here Comes The Sun' by the same group and found some of the notes in the chords whilst messin' around. You could give 'Here Comes The Sun' a shot ! Let us know how it goes.

Cheers,

I've been casually workin on 'Here Comes The Sun' for the past

to pick the repeating lower notes.. its hard lol! But thanks for showin
me somethin to work towards I know I'll get it if I keep workin on it ;D

You're welcome Cabarello and I'm glad you're enjoying learning 'Here Comes The Sun'...I saw a recording (a number of them actually) on youtube of George Harrison tearing off 'HCTS' while grinning from ear to ear, never so much as glancing at his hands or his guitar. Classic stuff. Now I'll have to find the melody tab and go at it so we'll be on the same page.

Cheers,

Hey Cabarello, if you're looking for something with playing similarities to Blackbird, try Tears in Heaven. It is similar, but a bit more advanced. My guitar mentor, Mike Herberts, has a video to help you learn it:
