I've had my acoustic for about 1 month and a half and i can get a lot of the normal chords but when i try to get to chords like F, B, etc. I have no clue what to do. Anyone have any tips on getting better at bar chords and finger flexibility?

Hi "Sammyj93"

I understand fully how you feel...theres no real shortcut to bar chords..the only thing you can do is practice....try 4 bar chords that you are really having trouble with and try to make a simple tune out of them and just practice, practice and practice... the finger positions until they become second nature...

Bar chords are very hard in the beginning. A couple of months ago all I could get was deadened strings when trying them, so I forced myself to start playing songs that use the F Chord in them (songs that I used to avoid!). Now I'm getting pretty good at fretting the bar chord. I still get some buzz sometimes, but not everytime! I am still sometimes a bit slow when changing from a standard chord to a bar such as the F or Bm, but I'm progressing and getting a little faster as I go. A lot of songs go from C to F and for me that is getting to be a pretty easy transition now!
Good luck and keep practicing them!
