Ive been looking for strat for a while now. I saw one at a pawn shop for $149.00. I would rather have an American Deluxe (HHS) or a Deluxe Lone Star (also HHS). However at this price I might go for it.
It has the three single pup (standard) config. I flipped it over and saw "Strat CXS" just before the serial number. It says Fender Stratacaster on the headstock. I think it's a real strat, some sort of standard model. It's not a Squier (at least it doesn't have Squier anyhwre on it). I can't find any model that is a CXS,
Anybody have idea what model it is ?
*edit I LOVE those Strat necks WAY easy to play, like butter, I might even look for a Tele

'I would rather have an American Deluxe'....your words petey...hey, if you get what you want, you'll have it now, if you 'settle', you'll have to get what you want later. I almost settled but found my American Deluxe Strat and I'm very pleased...(I too want an American Deluxe Tele though)

Of course, Zen however, I am on a budget and I might be waiting for a very long time for what I really want.
Be that as it may, I think I will steer clear clear of this one if anything for the price. It's either a typo on their part or something is wrong with it. I found a forum that mentions the CXS. The guy said he bought it as part of beginner package (with the little amp included and such, made in China package goes for about couple hundred or so ) I was telling Jag in the chat room this pawn shop normally sells their guitars for more than couple hundred bucks over brand new prices.
I might have to get a part time thing to get what I want. Wouldn't be the first time.

Talkin' to ya in the chat...yep, sounds like a Starcaster...not sure I'd want one of those at any price...

It says "Fender Statacastor" on the headstock though. strange the price though. Could be an older cheapy. I have a older Gibson "Maestro around the house somewhere. Even though it's a cheapy. It say Gibson on the headstock.
Jag mentioned "vintage' Strats. I am going to look around and feel of one of those too since I don't think I'm going to get out paying full price anyways. I would like to see how I like an older Strat anyways.
I'm just going to save up and pass this one up

I looked around at some fender serial # sites but couldn't find anything on the CXS prefix but that doesn't mean it's not out there....good choice on waiting though....but if you could, take a look at an American fender then go look at the 149 job again....tuners are bolt and nut type on the better stuff, little screws on the foreign stuff. the CXS may mean custom shop on the other hand. You could always post the fender board with a complete description including shape of the neck plate on the back etc.
