Well hello fellow guitarist and musicians! I am new to the board and I really don't know why, but I feel like I am going to get a very warm welcome here at chordbook.com!
Well anyway, Here is a little bit about myself. My name is Kaine Badon. I am 12 years old. I am the more or less proud owner of a 2008 60th anniversary Strat. I am a very big fan of C. C. DeVille's work as a musician. As opposed to those over-distorted, to much bass and treble stuff that is called music these days. I am EXTREMELY blues influenced. I would have to say my favorite guitarist are of course C. C. DeVille, Stevie Ray (may he rest in peace), That guy from the Los Lobos, Jimmy Paige, Prince, Jimi Hendrix (may he rest in peace as well), T-Bone Walker, Joe Walsh, Slash (who has mockingly become a very big sellout child-wise.) I really do not want to offend anybody by saying that. It is just my honest & foremost opinion.
You know, songs never cease to amaze me,
t's interesting how a good song can talk to you in different ways when you are at different places in your life. Today I started "re-learning" Outside by Staind. A few months ago it seems a rather intraspective little ditty. But today, it seems to be speaking to me about other people and the literal position of being "Outside".
As I relearn the lyrics (yes, I am bad with lyrics...I know...crushing thought), but as I relearn the lyrics the two lines that stick out the most are "All this time that I felt like this won't end, it's for you" and " And I taste, what I could never have, it's from you".
Of course...the last line of verse 2 has always spoken directly to me: "And I waste more time than anyone"...because of course...I do.
Well, Your comments are highly appriciated!
Thanks,
BayooStrat

Welcome bayoostrat !!
wow !! Very articulate for 12 for sure !! I applaud you. Here recently I've gotten into a blues "mojo". My taste in music genre is always changing the more I learn. Lots of opportunity to work on improvisation there for sure. Some tunes especially for me I find at a slower tempo are easier for me until I get faster.
Nice guitar you have there. Ever so often I find myself at a music store picking up and trying out various Strats. One day I plan to walk out with one.

Welcome aboard bayoostrat...nice choice o' guitars. I lucked out last summer and found a new 5oth anniversary, also a strat, in a small shop near me. I'll echo petey's observation about the way you express yourself.
Also I have the sneaking suspicion that you're one of the next 'guitar legends' so to speak and I liked the way you referenced Jimi, a long time fav of mine and SRV too. So can I ask you something about blues bayoostrat?

Wow, so that's an actual family picture then...cool..ok, I was wondering if, in your 'blues journey', you've stumbled over anything by Chicago bluesman Paul Butterfield and if so, what you think of that style.
Cheers,

sup dude. i'm new to this thing too. my names tommy mcintyre, and i'm 13 years of age. i guess i could say that i was mostly influenced to play guitar by my brother. he's awesome. then next would be andy mckee. sounds like you really know about the blues guitar world. that's cool. i don't know much about the guitar world in general. baisically, only the really famous dudes, like herman li from dragonforce. or eric johnson.....hehe. believe it or not, i actually own a givson acoustic. yes, a givson. i live in ghana west africa, what can i do? but it's been good to me and stayed healthy, and has only lost 2 strings, which have been replaced with the other strings as well. well, i welcome you (and myself for that matter) to the world of chordbook. hope you enjoy it. later.
tom, me.

I would also like to introduce myself, gotta keep the vibe going I'm new to the guitar world. I'm finding that I enjoy the blues sound myself and keep looking up beginner material if anyone has any suggestions on some good songs to practice to please feel free to let me know.

Welcome SixStringSamurai, I think everyone likes the blues. Do you know how to surf up artists and their songs, i.e. chords over lyrics, tabs, standard notation etc? If so, try some Blues Breakers if you can find some references to that group (John Mayall, Eric Clapton and others) also BB King for mostly 'all notes' style blues...let's see, who else...SRV, Buddy Guy...basic stuff but lots of emotion and great phrasing and 'hooks' in all of those...good luck in your quest and be sure to ask questions...someone will help and no doubt someone that knows more (that's easy) than I do about 'who's blues' to try will step up...
