You might need a metronome while you're out and about and if you have your
laptop but forgot your electronic or other kind of metronome you could keep
this in your favorites:

http://www.metronomeonline.com/

I have it on my lap and desktop plus I'm going to save it to my flashdrive.
Never know when it might come in handy !

Cheers,

Yep, our OTM is a funny guy alright...also if you check back in the posts over the years you find that Old Tele Man is 'the man' when it comes to guitar, guitar theory and generally anything to do with guitar.

I've been 'playing at' guitar for something like 5 years now but I'm a slow learner, though when I think about that by itself I'm reminded it's not so much the destination as it the journey and I'm really loving that. Have fun here guitarace....rock on !

wow, so i'm guessing he's been around for a while, as have you. sounds like you've played for a while. i've only played for like 6 or 7 months. my older brother (he's 25) taught me for about 3 months, then he left for the states (i live in ghana west africa as a missionary's kid right now). so now i just use this site, and others, to learn songs, chords ect. have you heard of andy mckee, or don ross?

Yep, I've been around for a while now guitarace, but I've only been playing at any kind of acceptable level for maybe 3 of the 5 years I've devoted to advancing in guitar. Also, I'm no way good enough to play in front of a crowd. I need to spend time with other players and I need to learn how it really is to play with several musicians before I'd ever 'step out' on any kind of stage. I've practiced with a couple of ppl and even two others at once and I learned a lot but I want more.

Well, I've most likely heard andy mckee and don ross but I don't always connect names to the music so if you could direct me to some links maybe I'll give a listen.

Interesting life you're living as a missionary's kid guitarace...imagining that you have plenty of spare time to practice and learn more about your guitar. Can I ask about where in the States you were located?

I'm glad you're liking the site guitarace and I hope your learning curve has accelerated. How're you liking the scales section here in chordbook?

Cheers,

well if you and i keep practicing and get good, maybe we'll both play on stage or something. who knows?! well, i think andy mckee's best song is ebon coast. he plays acoustic guitar and mixes percusion and finger picking at the same time. he plays the same way as don ross does. infact, he and andy mckee play together sometimes. you could look up "andy mckee and don ross" on youtube and you'll find 'em. i used to live in the millwaukee wisconsin area, in a little town called north prairie. we sorta lived in a leave it to beaver-town (alot of kids). i'm getting alot done with the scales section of chordbook. it's really helping me alot. i have finally mastered both the g major scale, a major scale (the same thing only on different frets), and the c minor scale. now i just go on metronome online and see how fast i can go. so where are you from?

This is true guitarace, one never knows what will happen next...kinda the beauty of it all I'd have to say.
I found some tube of andy mckee and don ross playin' ebon coast...I like it ! Thanks for putting that out there guitarace !

Millwaukee...hmmm....don't they make something special in Millwaukee? I really need to get over to WI one of these days soon...prolly when I go visit my Uncle on the 'Upper Peninsula'...

Hey, good you're getting some use here in scales and also the metronome...that's great. Well, I'm right in the middle of the PNW, on the west coast  USA. Ok, talk with you in the chatroom sometime

ya, andy mckee is pretty awesome. you might also look up some antoine dufour vids on youtube as well. he too does the same style as andy and don. so if yoyu enjoyed andy, then you will love antoine as well. sadly, the one really special thing they make in millwaukee is beer. but they also have many darie products, and that's saying for all of wisconsin. so if you like cheese and milk, move to wisconsin. but if not, then you probably shouldn't move there...it's cold all the time!!! well, i gotta go get to school. later!

Thanks guitarace, gave a listen to antoine dufor...amazing stuff I must say...I'm ever inspired when I see that kind of playing.

Yep, I knew it got cold in WI alright...oh and that there is lots of dairy farming taking place there also not to mention the cheese industry. One other one I thought of is this little motorcycle business over Millwaukee way...maybe you've seen something on it?

Cheers and laughter,

that's why antoine dufour and andy mckee were some of my isnpirations to play guitar (but my bro was the biggest). they're really good. oooh! harley davidson! they have festivals, many stores, and harley gangs everywhere. so if you like harleys, then you'll like millwaukee.
