Now this is just plain beautiful !!! I need to start saving my money.. (sarcasm ya'll)
This is one of my gits. It scares little kids and is soooo cool it almost plays itself. Yeah, I know, I saved all the original parts, pup rings, knobs, pick guard etc. I can always put em back on.. Friend says it's just wrong playing country and blues tunes on it......This guitar just wants to rock !!
After owning this one for years, I finally got it set up pretty good with the help of 69 Jaguar. It plays a lot better. bronze coated strings and tuned half a step down to quiet it down a bit...Yes, It does take a bit longer to tune.
But my dream guitar for now is a Strat. Not just any Strat. The one with a neck shape that was made for my hand. I am not sure what model that one is yet but I will find it someday. It will also have a humbucker in the bridge position.

phew, so many to choose from. wow..... to choose one it would have to be heavily customized. i would like a les paul with 24 frets(do they make those? i know they make at least one 24 fret sg model) a floyd rose and active emg's, an 81 or an 89 in the bridge and an 89 in the neck, with a lightly laquered/natural feel neck.
i dont know if that sounds too picky? but as far as my dream guitar it would be custom.
P.S. the guitar that is probably closest to my dream guitar is the joe satriani signature. it plays like a dream!! perfect sculpting on the body for my personal preference, and the natural neck feel, and some good dimarzios.... ah it is beautiful

knobs are easy to change, expensive/cheaper guitar or not. they just pull off, and put new ones on or vice versa and put the old ones back on.

Right now i have this,

Hmm. Since my dream guitar doesn't actually exist, I'll describe it.
ESP Japan custom shop U.S. SV body style (Similar to a Rhoads but with a longer bottom horn. Halfway between a Rhoads and a full V).
Mahogany body with flame maple top and a trans black burst finish (trans black in the middle fading to opaque black at the edges).
Hard maple 3-5 piece neck through.
Ebony fretboard with no inlays.
Black binding around the neck.
White binding on the headstock (standard ESP inline 6 headstock).
Either white bound non-bevelled body or bevelled front and back. EMG 81 in the bridge, no neck pickup, with volume and an onboard boost switch.
Onboard circuitry to emulate a tone knob turned all the way up but no visible (or adjustable) tone knob.
Since I really have no business with a custom shop anything, my next guitar will probably either be an LTD EC1000FR, LTD V-401DX, or a B.C. Rich Warbeast Deluxe Jr.
If nothing in this world can change our children will inherit nothing.
