Hello OTM, thanks for checking in on this...well I'd been talking about scales in one of the threads and remembered that you'd mentioned that you had referred to the C Major scale (C D E F G A C' as the 'Mother Scale' and there was a question about that.
After some debate and input from some learned musicians I went looking for the 'Fundamentals 101' thread and your particular post regarding the scale as mentioned above but search though I may, I couldn't even find the beginning of the '101' topic. I posted asking what happened to it and our own TMR3 found it and then after some searching I found this group of posts....
http://social.chordbook.com/guitar/cboa … 57&p=2 ....then I found the exact post I wanted once I scrolled down quite a ways and then I posted the link to the debate and that seems to have ended the discussion, positively I'm hoping. Thanks again for checking in and of course if you have any comments on 'C Major scale as mother scale' I for one would love to hear that.
Cheers,

...the "reason" the C-scale is called the 'mother scale' is that it was the original scale devised and used by the Greeks...and from which all the 'modes' were developed. And, as the 'mother' scale it is the ONLY key and scale having NO sharp (#) or flat (b) NOTES, CHORDS or MODES (think about it)!

Just hoping to gain some additional learning here, from your posts its obvious that you are the Jedi Master around here, I was led to believe that the lack of sharps and flats was why C major was called the natural scale.
