ok i have been working on major scale modes and have a decent grasp of them....

now im working on harmonic minor, hungarian minor, and melodic minor modes.

just curious as to what the pattern of chords is in melodic and harmonic minors.

as in i know this:

In  major scale

I  major chord
II minor chord
IIIminor chord
IVmajor chord
Vmajor chord
VIminor chord
VIIseventh chord

based off of a basic 1-3-5 to a 2-4-6 to a 3-5-7 etc. to build chords....

does the same work with melodic/hungarian/harmonic minors??

as in could i take the 1-3-5 of a hungarian minor to make the I chord? and the 2-5-6 of it to make the II chord? and use that to shift into the modal keys derived from it?

If this makes any sense sany help would be greatly appreciated

key is based off  major/minor; melodic/harmonic  minor  scales are tools used for texturing music. If a song is in key of C major, then C harmonic minor scale could be used instead of major scale to color the music differently. To my knowledge, if what your proposing can be done, then you've prolly moved out of music theory and into jazz theory.
