Hello my fellow shreaders!

As I previously stated in an earlier post introducing myself to the Chordbook forum, I rec'd gratis from a friend, an FG-140 acoustic that is in great condition - with the exception of the High-E string 'chrome' tuning key that was jury-rigged into place and obviously doesn't match the existing creme colored keys. It stays in tune and plays well, it's just an appearence issue with me and I'm looking to replace either just the one, or more preferably, the entire set.

I called & emailed Yamaha and they told me that they don't carry them any longer (due to the age of the guitar, built in the early 60's) and didn't say if there were any existing tuning keys that would work. They suggested that I look into aftermarket parts, but again, couldn't direct me in the right direction and I'm now asking this austere community for help.

Does anyone know where to look or to get a single key (has to match the creme color of the existing keys), or better yet, a complete set (color not important) of tuning keys? I input what I thought were the proper parameters into Google, but of course what popped up were a bajillion entries that didn't even come close to matching what I was looking for, so any help I can get here is very much appreciated.

Keep the strings screamin' and the amps smokin'!!

Cheers!

*NOTICE*

Please disregard my thread as I've solved my problem. I ended up reworking the existing tuning key holes to make the new Grovers I purchased fit (they were a bit too big in diameter) and now all is well and my guitar sounds like Angels singing from the Heavens...

Now if I can just play the damn thing!!!  HA-HA!!

Seriously though, with the lessons I've found here along with some chord books I have, I'm learning at a faster rate then I thought I would. I'm a drummer since the age of 8, but due to a spinal tumor, I can no longer play, so taking up the guitar seemed like a logical choice. I had no idea that playing the guitar could be so satisfying as well as relaxing.

At any rate, I appreciate the help offered to me and hopefully I can do the same for someone else here on Chordbook.

Keep the strings vibrating and amps smokin'!!

Cheers!!
