I know that there is a formual for putting different chords together. I am new at song writing and I want to know which chords go good with what.

...look into: (a) the HARMONIZED scale chords and (b) the CIRCLE of 5ths.
...the CIRCLE of 5ths will "show" you which chords "fit" best, while the HARMONIZED scale chords will "show" you which chords can be used together and/or substituted for one another.

You can also make your song fit the chords you want. Use chords you like, ones that you can move up or down with your vocals, or just ones that sound good. Whatever you use, you making it your own sound.
