...a very interesting chord...basically two adjacent notes, for example C and D, where C is Root (I) and D is 2 (II)...sometimes also notated as Cadd9, since 2 and 9 notes are enharmonic (but octave apart).
...most commonly played as C and D' meaning the two notes are NOT actually adjacent, but rather an octave apart.
