I've been thinking about buying a Thinline Telecaster, and the only thing I don't like about it right up front is the pickguard. i'm wondering if there's any kind of spray paint that would hold up well, or acrylic paint or anything like that. Just not sure what to do, since they don't really have a whole lot of options as far as thinline replacement pickguards.

If you absolutely have to paint it get KILZ stainblocker spray (it only comes in white and it sticks to everything) and spray 1 coat covering the entire pickguard. Then spray paint it whatever color you desire with a couple of coats and then paint over that with a clear spray paint. I'd do several coats of the clear to try and protect the finish. Keep in mind that a painted pick guard is not going to look as good as a manufactured one.
