I just “found” this board and love the resources it provides, but have not seen any discussion involving Cut Capos. I have been playing around with this neat little trick for a while now and wondered if the web gods here had ever considered adding this capability to the Virtual Guitar. I have found fingerings that sound great but would love to know what chords I am actually playing.
If you are not familiar with a Cut (sometimes called Foote or Short-Cut) Capo, it holds strings 5-4-3 on the 2nd fret to form an Esus giving you a pseudo alternate tuning. The difference being that no strings have been detuned so all standard chord fingerings still work. It feels strange at first grabbing for the 6th string BEHIND the capo, but you rapidly get used to this and can produce some really interesting sounds.
Here is a good primer on this little gem.

You can experiment with this effect yourself if you already have a Kyser capo (the spring type) by flipping it and using the pad that normally presses on the neck to cover the 5-4-3 strings on the 2nd fret. You will have to place it carefully to allow the 6th string to ring through.
Happy experimenting!
