Your question made me a little curious, so I looked it up. I'm not at all surprised by what i discovered. I should have known the answer already. There aren't really any chords that give Latin music it's distinct sound. Its how Latin music is done. That sound is based upon employed techniques. However, I did discover that minor 9  and minor 6 are commonly used chord types.
