I just bought a Fender Lonestar Strat from Craiglist. When I strum the guitar there seems to have lots of buzzing. When i bought it the guy did say he made some "set ups" which included strings, action, tension, intonation, etc.
When i bring the guitar to the shop (unless you might have another suggestion), what should i say in order to sound like i know what im talkin bout?
Can I fix this myself?
You can ...or maybe you cant. Do you have automotive feeler gauges, a capo, a ruler with 64ths of an inch, and a chromatic tuner? If yes then go here:http://www.fender.com/support/setup_guides.php
if not then tell the guy you need neck relief and action set up. Good luck whichever way you choose.
Hey Chancho,
I would say the problem is in the set-up, I am not familiar with the bridge on that model of guitar but I think Bobo is. I'm sure Bob can help ya out on this one.. The bridge on my git is totally different (and complicated) so I dont want to steer you the wrong way. It is definately a set-up issue.
I think Bob has the same git,or something simular, so If I see him in the chat room, I'll tell him about your post and problem...
Jim
Well I see Bob was replying at the same time I was. He types faster than I do.
But there ya go Chancho.
Thanks Bob...
Jim
sounds like hte action is too low and the string are buzzing against the frets...I just bought an SG thats the same way. just raise the action till there is no more buzz...and then if it is higher than you like Shave the frets and start over.
you might have a grounding problem all you have to do then is raise the bridge a tad and its gone but it could be that you have too many pedals if you have any the only way to solve that one is to take off a few
