I need some pointers on how to play tap like evh also what kind of gear would be best for it

It can be done with any gear, acoustic or electric. Start out slowly and build speed as you go. Do something simple like:

G------t10-h7-po-5----------
D------------------
A-----------------
E-------------------
t=tap= done with pick hand using edge of pick or finger tip
h=hammer on
po=pull off
