I need some help im writing a song and a have a chord progression and some good riffs, solos and melodies but i just cant get them to come together as a song

sometimes riffs just don't fit and you should save them for a new song.

but i find a lot of the time that they do fit it's just hard to put them one after another so you have to make 'linking phrases' to be able to fit them.

these can be anything and are probably the most useful things ever even if they only last like between 1 and 3 bars!

I frequently forgot about the other instruments. The guitar doesn't always have to be playing and the linking phrases could be supplied by another instrument. A linking phrase could also be silence.

Thanks guys! so all i have to do is focus on writing a good little riff or bass line in between to connect my main riffs/solos?
