So over this past weekend I got the bug to try out a few Mesa Rectos. I tried the Dual and Single Rectifiers with a few guitars (even tried out a 7 string... didn't care for it as much as a detuned 6 string btw) and found that I liked the slightly tighter tone of the Single Rectifier. The fact that it's 50 watts and begins to break up at lower volumes is nice too.
Anyway I couldn't resist and picked up the Single Recto. So far two things are very clear. Firstly it's very much not a Peavey. The tone is much more raw and full. Secondly, I believe what they say about it taking a month to dial in a Mesa. So far I've gotten it sounding tight and full (with some help from a few JJ preamp tubes) and am liking the tone. I can't wait for what it'll sound like in a month!
Anyway here's a picture of it sitting on the stack:
For kicks, here's a pic with the rest of the axe collection:

Lol sorry man. It's the way it goes I guess. I wish I could have afforded even a fraction of this stuff back when I was in a band (read: had time for being in a band). I may have not put the guitar down had I been able to.
So maybe let this be a lesson. Don't put the guitar down! Keep playing because in time you'll have some cool stuff and you don't want to be kicking yourself for putting the guitar down for 10 years.

you play flying v's sitting down how you would play classical guitar =P
or how i play sat down when i'm being too lazy to reach the higher notes and it's easier to reach from that position.

Not sure I understand what ya mean GF.. Did ya ever try to play a V on your lap with no strap or any thing else to keep it in place?

Basically you sit with the bottom horn between your legs. The inside corner of the V rests over your right leg (If you play right handed).

Ultex Jazz III it is. I used to be a fan of the Jazz III blacks but the Ultex are definitely as you say. The best picks I've found.
Bob one of these days. The new amp has gotten me playing more so once I improve a little we'll definitely Jam.
