hi
please if any one can tell me the meaning of beat and how to play a beat on the guitar .i dont know how to play one beat ,two beats ,half beats or a quarter beats.


please any one help me on this i am realy stuck with thisfor last two weeks.

..."beat" is synonymous with "tempo"...and "downbeat" is typically the first or initial beat in a measure.

...with a 4/4 or "common" time signature, the "beats" would be:

-----1st measure------
1 of 4 = "down beat"
2 of 4 = beat
3 of 4 = beat
4 of 4 = beat
----- 2nd measure----
1 of 4 = "down beat"
2 of 4 = beat
3 of 4 = beat
4 of 4 = beat
----- 3rd measure----
...etc.

...each "beat" would normally be associated with playing (or plucking) a string note
...with quarter-notes, that would be a four 1/4-time duration notes played per measure.
...with a whole-note, that would be one 4/4-time note played per measure, etc..
