So, I wanna get a book on music theory, but one that deals mostly with tab. I don't want to learn standard notation, just scales, progressions, modes, etc or is standard notation really that important? Recommendations?

You may get as many different answers about learning music theory using tab as there are posters on this forum.

With the comprehensive list of theory items you list that you would like to learn, it might be good to use a two stage approach: first to learn a little theory using tab to get you started to satisfy that immediate need we all have to learn guitar. And second, after making some progress with theory using tab, start learning music theory using music notation. Just take it in small steps. Start with the C scale and incorporate theory items, building from that.

Good luck to you!
